FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What areas can be treated with Dermal Fillers?
Tear Trough
The tear trough is a depression between the fat of the lower eyelid and the bulk of the cheek often referred to as hollowness under the eyes.
Cheeks
Ageing usually contributes to volume loss. The round, full look diminishes as the fat pads in our cheeks gravitate downward.
Nasolabial Folds
Also referred to as “smile lines” these lines run down the sides of the nose to the corner of the mouth. Most of us notice these when smiling, laughing or talking, but over time they can develop into static lines.
Barcode/smoker’s Lines (Perioral lines)
The use of dermal fillers can smooth and fill out these lines on the upper lip area creating a much softer, younger-looking appearance.
Lips
Thin lines are not necessarily a result of ageing, many men and women are born with thinner lips. If you would like to add volume, but avoid an exaggerated look. Dr. Amar can inject lip filler to add volume to your natural lip shape.
Marionette Lines
Located just below the corner of the mouth, the marionette lines can make you look sad or angry when relaxing your face.
Chin
A great alternative to a surgical chin implant, is non-surgical chin augmentation achieved
with dermal fillers to reshape and contour the chin area.
Jawline
Also known as soft tissue augmentation where several syringes of Dermal Filler can be injected to augment and contour the jawline.
Am I a suitable candidate for Dermal Fillers?
Facial fillers can be used on a wide range of clients, and is primarily used for skin rejuvenation, contouring and reduction of lines and wrinkles. Other suitable clients are those seeking to add structure and volume to the face.
How many treatments will I need, and how far apart can I have them?
A typical dermal fillers treatment takes around 45-90 minutes and clients can expect to notice the effects within 2-3 weeks post treatment.
Who will perform the treatment?
Dr. Amar will perform the treatment, he is a registered Doctor and experienced in injectable
treatments.
Does the treatment hurt?
Numbing cream can be applied prior to treatment however advances in dermal filler products means that some products now contain a numbing agent to help numb the treated area simultaneously during treatment proven to aid client comfort.
Dr. Amar can also perform dental block which is injecting local anesthesia to numb the lips (Dental block is for lip area only)
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment times vary ranging from 45-90 minutes.
Is there any downtime?
With any injectable treatment, there can be some bruising or swelling that accompanies it. This should not persist longer than 5-7 days and can usually be concealed with makeup.
Are Dermal Fillers permanent?
While there are permanent fillers available on the market, we do not use them at Dr. Amar’s Aesthetic Clinic. We promote the use of temporary (resorbable) fillers, as the clients should have the ultimate say on what they would like from their treatment. If permanent fillers are used, there runs the risk of the client not liking the results achieved and not being able to reverse the effects of treatment. Temporary fillers are considered a very safe form of filler as the product will be absorbed by the body during a gradual process in which any potential side-effects are not last longing.
Will my family and friends notice I’ve had work done?
The majority of the time family and friends will not notice you’ve had cosmetic treatment, done, and that’s wonderful. It is much better for people to recognize something has changed, commenting on how refreshed you look and how good your skin is looking, than for them the exact what kind of treatment you’ve had. Wouldn’t you agree?
